Navigating your inflection point with AI.
I help businesses turn AI from hype into measurable results: finding where it actually pays off, building it into the tools you already use, and training your team to run it without me.
Currently: automating the monthly close at a CPA firm — a dozen recurring deliverables that took afternoons now come back as finished workbooks in minutes, run by the firm's own staff.
Four ways I can help.
Some clients come to me with a list of AI ideas and no idea which one is real. Others have something half-built that isn't behaving. I'm useful at both ends, and I'll be straight about what's worth your time.
AI Strategy & Roadmapping
I sit with your team, map the recurring work item by item, and rank where AI genuinely pays off. You get a prioritized roadmap with honest "not worth automating" calls — not a slide deck.
Workflow Automation
I turn the deliverables you produce every month — reconciliations, report packages, data imports, document reviews — into one-command automations that run in each person's own format, wired into Excel, Outlook, and the files you already use.
Custom Integrations, Built Safely
When AI needs to touch a live system — your books, your CRM, your client data — I build the connection with guardrails: every change previewed and approved by a person, logged to an audit trail, and tested against your real cases before you trust it.
Team Training & Enablement
Hands-on sessions built around your actual work, not canned demos — so your team keeps using and extending what I build without calling me every week.
What this looks like in practice.
My current engagement is with an accounting firm that serves restaurant franchisees — forty-plus entities, heavy monthly reporting. Here's what we've shipped together.
The month-end close, automated
A dozen recurring deliverables — financial-statement checks, deposit reconciliations, cash-flow workbooks, trial-balance imports, cost-percentage worksheets — now run as push-button automations. Each accountant drops in the month's files and gets back a finished, client-ready Excel workbook in their own format, in minutes instead of an afternoon.
AI inside QuickBooks, with guardrails
I designed and built a custom QuickBooks Online integration that goes well beyond the off-the-shelf connector — nineteen tools covering journal entries, reclassifications, report pulls, and GL cleanup. Every write is previewed before a person approves it, everything lands in an audit trail, closed periods are locked, and deleting is reserved for humans. It passed Intuit's production security review and is live with three client companies today.
A team that runs it without me
The firm's accountants run the automations themselves, each in a format built around how they already work — and when someone asks for a change, it's usually live within days. That's the point: I build it, teach it, and get out of the way.
How I usually work.
Three steps, agreed up front. When I'm done, your team can run it without me, and you'll always know what I'm doing and what it costs.
Assess
I map your goals, data, and workflows to find where AI is actually worth the effort, and where it isn't.
Build
I prototype fast, and we agree up front on what "working" actually looks like — tested against your real cases, not a demo.
Enable
I hand off documentation and train your team, so nothing depends on me being in the room.
Hi, I'm Joey Kelly.
I'm a PhD scientist who has worked inside frontier AI labs, training and stress-testing the reasoning models everyone's now talking about. I know where they're genuinely good, and where they'll quietly let you down.
I started Inflection AI Consulting to help you reach that inflection point: where AI stops being a slide in someone's deck and starts doing real work for you.
Let's talk about where AI fits.
Tell me a bit about your business and what you're hoping to achieve with AI. I'll get back to you within one business day.

No forms, no funnels — just email me. If it's easier, describe the most tedious thing your team did last month, and I'll tell you honestly whether AI can take it off their plate.
